Fortaleza Materiales was created in 2021 as a result of the spin-off of the Building Systems and Metals Business Units from the Cement Business Unit (formerly Elementia, S.A.B. de C.V.).

Launching the Cementos Fortaleza brand in Mexico.

Joint venture with Cementos Lafarge

Increasing market share in Mexico with the “Tula” and “Vito” plants, both in Hidalgo, Mexico.

Acquisition of “Tula” and “Vito” plants from Cementos Lafarge

Reaching an installed capacity of over 3.5 million tons of cement per year in Mexico.

Acquisition of 55% of Giant Cement Holding Inc.

Commencing operations in the U.S. market with an installed capacity of 5 million tons of cement per year.

Start-up of production line #2 at the “Tula” plant

Increasing the production capacity of this plant to serve Central Mexico.

Start-up of Plycem’s cement grinding plant in Costa Rica

With a production capacity of 250,000 tons of cement per year to serve Central America.
